Courtney Takes New York

Austin's sister (and one of my best friends) moved to New York in May. In my opinion, her personality and career goals are so much bigger than Dallas (heck, maybe even bigger than Texas!) and I think New York was just the ticket for her to explore, grow, and learn. I am so thankful to have her in my life, whether it's down the street or across the country, she is our biggest fan. In true "coco" style, we sent her off with champagne and sparkles.

I only had a few days to plan. Her decision to move came very quickly. Once she found a job and called the movers, it was go time - for both of us!

I wanted to do something special for someone very special to me. But also not overwhelm as saying goodbye is hard to do, no matter how cute the decorations are.

I made a "Courtney Takes New York banner", followed with some mimosas and fancy straws (of course), napkins with her personal hashtag (#frappyhour) and topped it off with a menu fit for Courtney. While her fashion sense is on point, her taste buds? Not so much. We had pizza, pasta, chicken fingers, goldfish and queso in honor of our new favorite New Yorker. While the pictures aren't the best, you can get the idea. Oh, and I went the route of purchasing a cake from a grocery store. There's a reason it isn't pictured. Don't you hate when you pay for something you know you could've done better yourself? Lesson learned.

I'm back. Again?

Hey, I warned you. I admitted that I've started and restarted this blog more times than I'd like to admit, and well, here we are again.  I've been busy, ok?

Not really. You haven't missed much.

Let's see. In a nut shell: Austin and I moved to a town house in Dallas, I'm giddy about being the maid-of-honor in my best friend's wedding, I am a soon-to-be auntie to a new baby due in February, and I've been trying to soak up as much sun as possible this summer - a lot harder than it sounds.

I'll be back tracking again. This is my blog. I make my own deadlines - or lack there of.

Cookie Monster

I'm back tracking here a little, but just stay with me folks.

For the past two Thanksgivings I have been lucky enough to spend the holiday with one of my favorite families in one of my favorite places. Austin's uncle has a farm outside of Houston, more commonly referred to as the "Frap Farm". This place has everything. Fishing, horse back riding, and is filled with more Fraps than you can count.

In an effort to impress Austin's family I made Texas Thanksgiving themed sugar cookies this year.

 They were a hit.

I'm Back

Dear reader (aka Mom),

I have started and restarted this blog more times than I would like to admit. But this time, I am here to stay. I am not sure where this is all going, but I want it to be an outlet for my thoughts, opinions, and day-to-day doings - or what I call my own "lala land".

I decided to start with a inspiration board of some-sort. Hoping it's like the first-drink-of-the-night feeling in blog form - keep em comin'.

I guess you could say I'm feelin' a little earthy and flirty. This warm weather is reminding me of shorter skirts and longer days.
